Here you get a view of what it is like to enter the
Cheboygan Locks from the south, the high side.
The top two photos show the entrance to the locks.
The photo left is a view with the gates open after you are lowered to
the Lake Huron level. The view below shows the south,
or high side, of the locks with the gates holding back the
Inland Waterway.
The Lake Michigan side of the locks offers shore fishing from both sides.
The warm water flowing out of the power plant, top right,
attracts fish year round. I watched many large salmon swim by
waiting for the locks in the fall. The stone wall shown above
is directly behind the outflow.
