Hey everyone,
Todd here again, I would like to introduce my partner in the trail reporting, (John) he is the other co-founder of Happi-Trails ATV Club in which we started in August of 09. John has been on the trails and roads for the last week. The trails were in great shape after the lasts rains we had, but things have changed since then, they are very dry and dusty. Some trail maintenance needs to be attended to, so we will inform them. Johns crew has taken care of some of the main ones up to date.
All COUNTY roads in Frederic Township are open except county road 612 and Manistee River Rd. south and a couple of smaller roads, be sure to check the ORV maps at Crawford County site ( http://www.crawfordco.org/Ordinances/Disclaimer.htm ).
REMEMBER to observe all the laws, also that all state and forest roads are NOT open unless POSTED OPEN.
It has been great to see the increased ATV traffic since the laws have changed. The Town of Frederic was booming this past Holiday. Here at the Happi-Days the Campground and Dinner we experienced great numbers between the ATV'ers and the Horsemen. We have been working with the local officials to get a trail open off the Northern Frederic Loop that would shorten the trip to the Kalkaska trails by means of Cameron Bridge Rd.. The meeting with the DNR has come and gone. We were informed that DNR has a plan but has not disclosed any details as of Monday the 7th. Also the town of Grayling is going to get some roads open soon so you can get to the resources there also. I will keep you posted.
Happi-Days Campground is wide open to ride to and from the trail systems. We have 40 sites with Electric/Water a full Bathhouse with showers, We can accommodate HORSES and ATVs, We have a Full 50's style Diner and a Camp store. We also have two cabins for your accommodating needs.
