Howdy sledders, it was a great weekend, cold temp and a little snow to cover the ice on the lake. Other than one sledder getting stuck in the river all went great(note, snowmobiles still do not swim)We got him out and the sled lives.
The trails have been groomed and in fairly good shape, a little more snow would be good, however I have rode on much worse. The lake is hard and snow covered which is great for getting up into the manistee forest. There is plenty of snow in the woods for a nice day of riding, not groomed, but very scenic. The almost 30 miles of shoreline on Hamlin Lake is very scenic, the eagles nest had 2 eagles near it last week. Other than in the woods, I have a feeleing the roads are more bare than covered, so, a trip to the groomed trails would take a trailer ride to the trailheads. Our guests have been happy in the forest with local trails, no grooming. but, less riders and more scenic, views overlooking Hamlin Lake and Lake Michigan.
We are getting filled for the upcoming weekend so call soon. This goes for most weekends till march. The free lodging for a daily rental seems to be working. Call soon 888-845-5187 to check out the availability of rooms and sleds. See you soon, Bill and Shirley, Keep up the snow dance.
