Indian River, Michigan
4th Of July House Boating On Burt Lake   By the Castmaster     Pg. 5

You could not have asked for better day. Clear blue skies, a light breeze, and temps now in the low 80's! We laid out on the top deck for most of the afternoon soaking up the sun, shooting the breeze and doing a bit of girl watching. The girls knew but were also checking out the guys so they let us be. I saw a lot of people I know, and some I did not that knew me. I would have liked to put in photos of everyone but I am limited, so I am sorry to have to leave out some of you that stopped by. Around 5 o'clock Neila and I were feeling a bit burnt from the sun and getting hungry, again.

Our company had gone back to camp for diner so we decided to ride over to Indian River, gas up the Lund, and grab a bite to eat. It's about 6 miles from Maple Bay to the mouth of the Indian River, normally a 10 minute ride at crusing speed. Today with all the boat traffic we took it slow and played in the waves along the way left by the larger boats. By the time we gassed up and stopped for diner the sun was starting to set. Fireworks started blazing from all around the lake and Indian River had a desplay off DeVoe Beach. We really enjoyed the displays as we slowly made our way back to the houseboat and a good nights sleep.
