Too windy to fish this weekend. Weather is very cool and with strong north winds it feels alot like fall. I fished earlier in the week, could not find Blue Gills in the Lily Pads that grow in about 2-3 FOW. I tried some adjacent water that was a couple of feet deeper (5 FOW) and caught alot of fish including two Large Mouth Bass one almost five pounds (pics on NorthBay). We also watched as Bass took small minnows off the top of the water all around us. We also caught a few keeper Perch and about 15 Gills that were 8 inches, which we kept because we couldn't find any bigger. Caught a few Rock Bass one big one that we kept (tastes great) All the fish except the Blue Gills were simply chuck full of small minnows I included some pics of that too. We caught the fish on small jigging hooks (swedish pimple and a couple others similar to that with rattles) For bait we used chunks of Crawlers, Worms, Wax Worms and they all worked very well the fish were just in a feeding frenzy with all those minnows in the water. We caught fish casting, bobber fishing and even vertical fishing over the side of the boat. Thats where we hooked the big Bass right under the boat. Walleyes have been slow but with the Mayfly hatch ended and this cool weather that will soon change. Remember the lake will keep fish fresher than your freezer just keep enough for a meal.
