EAST JORDAN SNO-BLAST "98"

The parade was in full swing as the grand marshals
passed by with a wave and a huge smile. Old man winter
did find his float and someone else for the ride, you old devil.
An ATV came by with a kid tied in front and back. They were
having a ball showing off to all their friends in the crowd.
The crew from WAIR had showed up with their entry but as
you can see were experiencing technical difficulties and
hitched a ride. Thanks to good planning things were still moving right along.
Next in line was this years Ice Princess riding
in antique snowmobile that had a rear engine and plenty
of leg room. This sled as well as a lot more would be on display
at the East Jordan Snowmobiler's Club House after the parade.
What would a parade be without a clown, well we didn't have to
find out. I don't think that umbrella will do this clown much
good.
To the right we have Kay and Lady showing us their new
snowshoes they rent. Kay and her husband Scott, owners of
J.V. Outfitters,
also handle canoes, kayaks and rafts for trips down the
famous Jordan River.
On the left is Arnold's Bait & Tackle's float displaying the fish
entered so far in the Ice Fishing Contest which they sponsor. Located
right across from the boat ramp
in town it's a good place to stop for bait and tips before you head out.
It's been a late year for ice but the die-hards were still
out catching fish through thin ice. Lake Charlevoix is a good walleye lake
summer or winter. Arnold's also sponsors a summer walleye contest that was a lot of fun last year.
