After a day of hustle and crowds we decided to take a ride
north out the Charlevoix Trail
and enjoy the views. We dove along Lake Charlevoix and
followed the connecting trail that runs past the
West Brook Motel
and to the main trail. It's real easy to get around through
town on sleds. They keep several back roads and the bridge
over the Jordan covered in snow for easy access to restaurants,
gas, lodging and the snowmobile shops.
We rode up narrow winding trails that gave an
awsome view of the lake and beyond and scooted over open fields
and rolling hills like boats on an open sea.Time just seems to
fade away and lose importance when I'm out here in the hills.
But was getting late, and we had to head
back to East Jordan and meet Pop's for dinner.
The Yamaha snowmobiles that Jack had let us use
performed flawlessly that afternoon and the time
we spent riding was wonderful. We pulled them into
the shop, thanked Jack and got out of some of the
clothes that were weighing me down. I now felt 20
pounds lighter and hungry as a spring bear.
We headed over to the Lumber Jacks,s Lounge & Restaurant
where we heard the food was good. There was a new owner that
took over the place a couple of years ago and from what
I could see they had done a wonderful job with the inside.
Every one was right about the food it was really good and
the service first class.
After seeing their
monster Burrito served to another table I ordered
the smaller version. The big one could feed several bears.
All in all it was a very good day and I know
I will be back next year. For those of you that are fed up
with the crowds and conditions at some of the more well know
winter festivals this is one I would highly recomend for
a family weekend in the North.
Untill next time, ride safe
and have fun, The Castmaster.
