Just south of Dodge point, 0.7 miles, a red bouy marks a small sunken island that comes to within a couple feet of the surface. The area to the north and east of this is known as the flats. There is a transition zone from sand to gravel that runs in the 25 foot range. I like to work this area in the summer and fall for large walleye that roam the area. Both the largest fish, shown right, and the first place winners in the 1999 MWT tournament caught their fish in this area.
