The waters just west of Oden Island offer a variety of good fishing, from walleye to small mouth bass. The water comes up from 40 or more feet in steps to the west shores of the island. At the south end of the island their is some rocky bottom at 12 feet that will attract fish. I like to start out deep and drift east into Oden Island to find the depth the fish are biting at. The 10 to 15 ft. drop works well in the summer evenings with a slow crawler or leech rig, or trolling crank baits in the fall.
I often drag leeches using a carolina rig through the weeds real slow just off bottom with good results. The leeches hold up better in the wear and tear with this type of fishing. Still fishing I would use a slip bobber rig set around 8 to 10 feet.
